1. Controller and scope
Alongside is the controller for the personal data described in this policy for the public website, waitlist, and related prelaunch communications offered under the Alongside brand. This policy applies where it is posted or linked.
Current phase: the public landing pages are designed to use self-hosted fonts, scripts, and imagery. That means the public pages described here do not intentionally load third-party advertising pixels, remote CDN scripts, or externally hosted font files on page load.
If Alongside later launches member accounts, profile pages, messaging, or workout-posting features, we may publish an updated notice or a product-specific privacy supplement covering those features.
2. Personal data we may collect
- Information you choose to provide: if you join a waitlist, request updates, or contact Alongside, we may collect details such as your name, email address, city, and the information you include in your message or form submission.
- Technical and request data: like most websites, requests to Alongside may generate server-side logs and security records such as IP address, user agent, timestamps, requested URLs, referrer data, and similar device or browser metadata.
- Communication records: if you email us or otherwise contact us, we may keep records of those messages and the follow-up needed to respond.
- Future product data: if Alongside later offers member accounts, profiles, workout requests, location-based discovery, or messaging, we may collect the data needed to operate those features and will update this notice accordingly.
3. Why we process data and our legal bases
Depending on the context, Alongside may rely on one or more of the following legal bases under applicable data protection law: consent, taking steps at your request before entering into a relationship with you, legitimate interests, and compliance with legal obligations.
- To deliver the public website and keep it secure: we use technical request data to serve pages, diagnose issues, protect the service, and prevent abuse. Our legal basis is generally legitimate interests.
- To manage waitlist and launch interest: if you choose to provide your contact details, we use them to record your interest, respond to your request, and send launch or access updates. Depending on the message and your location, our legal basis is consent and/or taking steps at your request.
- To communicate with you: we use contact details and message history to answer questions, send operational replies, and manage follow-up. Our legal basis is legitimate interests and, where applicable, consent.
- To comply with law and enforce our terms: we may use personal data where needed for fraud prevention, legal compliance, recordkeeping, or defending claims. Our legal basis is legal obligation and legitimate interests.
4. Cookies, tracking, and similar technologies
The public landing pages described in this repository are designed not to load advertising pixels or third-party analytics tags on page load.
Current website behavior: the public pages do not intentionally set marketing cookies or call third-party tracking scripts from the site code reviewed here.
If Alongside later introduces non-essential analytics, experimentation, advertising, or embedded third-party tools, we will update this policy and request consent where required by law before those technologies are activated.
5. When we share personal data
- Service providers and processors: we may share data with vendors that help us host the site, manage email or waitlist workflows, maintain security, or provide customer support.
- Professional advisors and authorities: we may disclose data where reasonably necessary for legal compliance, responding to lawful requests, protecting rights and safety, or enforcing our policies.
- Business transactions: if Alongside is involved in a financing, merger, acquisition, reorganization, or sale of assets, relevant data may be transferred as part of that process, subject to applicable law.
- Future community features: if Alongside later launches social or profile-based features, certain profile or activity information may be visible to other members based on the feature design and privacy settings presented at that time.
We do not sell personal data from the public landing pages, and we try to limit sharing to what is reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy.
6. International transfers
Alongside and some of its service providers may process data in countries outside the country where you are located. Where required by applicable law, we rely on approved transfer safeguards such as adequacy decisions, standard contractual clauses, or comparable protections.
7. Retention
We keep personal data only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy, including to operate the service, communicate with interested users, keep records, protect the service, and comply with legal obligations.
- Waitlist and contact details: generally until you unsubscribe, ask us to delete the data, or we no longer need the information for launch communications and follow-up.
- Security and server records: generally for a short rolling period needed for security, troubleshooting, abuse prevention, and auditing.
- Legal or compliance records: for as long as needed to comply with law, resolve disputes, or enforce agreements.
8. Your data protection rights
- You may have the right to request access to the personal data we hold about you.
- You may have the right to ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete personal data.
- You may have the right to ask us to delete personal data, restrict processing, or object to certain processing.
- Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw that consent at any time without affecting earlier lawful processing.
- Where applicable, you may have the right to data portability.
- You can opt out of promotional emails by using the unsubscribe link included in those messages.
9. How to exercise your rights or make a complaint
If you want to exercise your privacy rights or ask a question about this policy, contact Alongside using the contact method published on the site or in our launch communications. We may ask for information reasonably necessary to verify your identity before completing a request.
If you are in the EEA, UK, or another jurisdiction with similar rights, you may also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority if you believe our processing violates applicable law.
10. Security
We use technical and organizational measures intended to protect personal data, including limiting unnecessary third-party requests on the public landing pages, restricting code execution to site-controlled assets, and using access controls appropriate to the systems involved. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
11. Automated decision-making
The public landing pages are not designed to use automated decision-making that produces legal or similarly significant effects about you.
12. Children's privacy
Alongside is not intended for children under 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 18 for use in the service. If you believe a child has provided us with data, please contact us so we can investigate and delete it where appropriate.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time as Alongside evolves. When we do, we will update the effective date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, provide additional notice before material changes take effect.
14. Contact
Privacy questions and rights requests should be sent through the contact method published on the Alongside website or in Alongside launch communications.
Before a broader launch: Alongside should update this section with its final legal entity name and a monitored privacy contact channel for formal rights requests.
